Does the countdown keep ticking in the background?
It recomputes the difference from the current time every 250 ms, so even if the tab is throttled it snaps to the correct value when visible.
Can I record laps?
Yes — while the stopwatch is running, the “Lap” button stamps the current elapsed time; the full list can be copied.
